Trygve Throntveit-Civil Discourse in 21st Century America

Is there more to democracy than political and cultural conflict? Can Americans find ways to work across differences while maintaining their personal values and sense of integrity? Join the Bemidji Public Library and Indivisible Bemidji as we explore the answers to these questions in a non-partisan presentation by author and historian Trygve Throntviet, on Thursday, September 21, at the library, 509 America Avenue, at 6:00 p.m.

A graduate of Saint Paul Central and Harvard University Throntviet has been a Global Fellow for History and Public Policy at the Wilson Center, lectured at the University of Minnesota where he was a Dean’s Fellow for Civic Studies, and is editor of the journal The Good Society. Currently, he is the Director of Strategic Partnership at the Minnesota Humanities Center where he builds relationships that promote understanding, justice, and human flourishing through storytelling and creative civic work. He is also the architect of the Third Way Civics (3WC), an initiative to put civic learning and purpose at the center of education and the workplace.

The Bemidji Public Library is committed to providing the community with valuable resources and services. The library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It offers a wide range of services, including WIFI, fax, printing, copying, and a legal kiosk. This program and many others are made possible through the generosity of the Friends of the Bemidji Public Library, who support the mission and purpose of the library.
