Will Weaver
Introducing the New Book, Power and Light
The Bemidji Public Library is excited to present Pen Award and Minnesota Book Award winner Will Weaver as he introduces his new book, Power and Light, on Tuesday, December 5th at 6:00 p.m. Join us for an exciting event as Weaver returns to themes of Red Earth/White Earth with a story of dreams, loss, and tragedy set in 1906 North Dakota.
Will Weaver grew up on a farm in northern Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota and Stanford University. Winner of PEN Fiction awards for his short stories, Weaver’s debut novel, Red Earth, White Earth, was published by Simon & Schuster and produced as a CBS television movie while A Gravestone Made of Wheat & Other Stories won the Minnesota Book Award for Fiction. Weavers' other works include the young adult novel Memory Boy, which was produced by Minnesota Opera Youth Division, and Saturday Night Dirt as well as editing Days Like Smoke a memoir of Minnesota author Jon Hassler. The Bemidji Public Library is committed to providing the community with valuable resources and services. The library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It offers a wide range of services, including WIFI, fax, printing, copying, and a legal kiosk. This program and many others is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
