The Bemidji Public Library Presents

Beltrami: A Pilgrim’s Providence

The Bemidji Public Library is excited to announce a screening of the film Beltrami: A Pilgrim’s Providence at the library 509 America Avenue, on Saturday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m. Join us as we welcome producer and director, Janet-Rith Najarian, Ph.D. and Norwood F. Hall II as they talk about their film and show how an expatriate Italian explorer made his mark on Northern Minnesota.

2023 marks the 200th anniversary of the journey of the Italian exile, Giacomo Costantino Beltrami to find the source of the Mississippi River.  Beltrami: A Pilgrim’s Providence explores his harrowing journey and study of indigenous culture in what is now Northern Minnesota using historical reenactments, original music, and primary sources to tell a tale of heartbreak, adventure, and geo-piety. Join us for this free look at Minnesota history, on Saturday, September 23, at 11:00 a.m.

The Bemidji Public Library is committed to providing the community with valuable resources and services. The library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It offers a wide range of services, including WIFI, fax, printing, copying, and a legal kiosk. This program and many others are made possible through the generosity of the Minnesota Legacy Amendment.
