Tell Me a Story Presents Mary Moose and Joe Sutherland
The Spring Solstice-Ojibwe Snow Stories
The Bemidji Public Library, Beltrami County Historical Society, and the Cass Lake Library are honored to present the series Tell Me a Story, an exploration of the art of storytelling. Join us as we welcome storytellers Mary Moose and Joe Sutherland, as they present traditional snow stories Monday, March 20, 2023, at 6:00 PM at the Bemidji Public Library, 509 America Avenue, Bemidji and streamed live at the Cass Lake Community Library.
In Ojibwe culture, storytelling is an important art and tradition. Winter, especially, is storytelling season. We are honored to welcome two storytellers to share these special stories in Ojibwe and English. Monday, March 20, at 6:00 p.m.
Mary Moose is a first-language Ojibwe and Cree speaker from Nishnawbe-Aski Nation. She was raised in the bush where she learned Ojibwe knowledge and values. She and her son, Ogimaawap (Joe Sutherland), a storyteller and artist in his own right, dedicate their lives to passing on Ojibwe knowledge and values.
The Bemidji and Cass Lake Public Libraries are committed to providing their communities with informational resources to enrich their lives. The libraries provide a wide range of services to their patrons such as WIFI, fax, printing, and copying.
The Beltrami County Historical Society collects, preserves, and shares the history of Beltrami County. A 501(c)(3) organization, the Historical Society operates a museum, research service, archive, and more. For more information visit https://beltramihistory.org.
